Carhartt WIP is always good for a surprise. The small but exquisite Carhartt WIP x Nychair X mini-collection, which consists of a chair and a stool – both of which, of course, fold up, as you would expect from Nychair X furniture – is currently inspiring. Nychair X is a Japanese brand that has been around for over 50 years and specializes in the production of minimalist, functional chairs.

This lightweight and foldable design made of stainless steel and canvas was designed by Takeshi Nii in 1970. Many ottomans are equipped with a slanted seat to better match the shape of the legs and feet, but the Carhartt WIP x Nychair X Ottoman has a flat, horizontal seat that also serves other purposes. With a load capacity of 95 kg, it can of course be used as a stool, but it can also take on a variety of flexible roles: with a tray on top, it can be used as a side table; it can be placed at the entrance to help take off shoes; it can be transformed into a temporary storage rack and so on.
