V.A. Zwei : Two

"zwei : two" is a collection of 6 tracks that explore asynchronous musical collaboration. Simon Lovermann invited 6 artists and groups from various genres that have shaped his journey as a composer and musician. The goal was to initiate a musical dialogue in the form of a chain letter. Each contributor selected a track from Simon's debut album and received its individual stems.

They could use two of these stems as a starting point for creating a new musical idea, and were allowed to add two more elements. These ideas were then sent back to Simon, who responded in kind, continuing this back-and-forth until both parties felt the production was complete.

This project is a response to Simon's debut album “Handwerke”, crafted as a concept album rather than a traditional remix album. All work was done in separate studios, without real-time communication, resulting in compositions that are reactions to each other. These productions are artifacts of the conceptual framework and process of the album.

12" Vinyl, coming in a transparent, silk-screen printed cover, alongside a large DIN A2 folded Poster serving as the cover, as well as an expandable booklet, featuring screenshots from video-works released alongside the EP.
