BAD WEED crafts infectious power pop with a heavy dose of early UK sound in their veins, a must listen for all fans whose hearts beat beat out faster at the mention of the Buzzcocks, Exploding Hearts, or the Nerves - but all in a modern and fresh suit."Sweetie Bernhard (Siluh Records) asked me to phrase a hype text about the new BAD WEED record, and I was flattered firstly, but I had second thoughts about this later_ How can I explain and bring this powerpop gem closer to you in just a few words? It's not just the usual jangle pop thing or even worse, not something they call "garage punk" these days, nope sir! It is true 70s flavoured powerpop, but just like my boss always likes to utter: You cannot tell people about the greatness of a powerpop record - you have to listen to it, preferably with a drink of choice in your hand and soon it will unravel its specialty (or not). What do I love about BAD WEED besides the fact that they are the most handsome guys around who -- after performing in many different bands for 20 years now - finally learned how to play their instruments? It's the songs! It's all about the songs! The first single from 2015 was something else, you can even call this garage pop, their debut album a couple of years ago and about 100 shows later was just the beginning, here is their second full length simply entitled "II" with the talent, songwriting ability and pop craftsmanship on display! Some of these 12 original songs remind me of albums / bands that seem to be long forgotten on the long run, like "If you ever pt1" could be an early THE FRESHIES single, "Breaking Lines" could be from a RUDI setlist or "Who's gonna love me" sounds just like one of those THE COLD earworms. Most of the songs have this 80ties UK indie punk vibe that goes straight to my brain and heart! They even have the atrocity to cover TOWNES VAN ZANDT - and manage to make it sound not as depressing as the original, only a bit sad maybe.To maintain that this is a feel good album is not quite right, it's not...

Garage-rock, surf-pop, 90s-flavoured indie, and harmonies à la The Breeders blend with a touch of Riot Grrrl attitude, present in the lyrical presentation of Dives' manifesto: Anti-discrimination and pro-equality and humanity. Dives's sound is fun in a big way, but also clever and versatile, veering from upbeat power pop on 'Walking The Dog', big anthems on '100 Times', or dream pop on 'Only Lies.' Album opener and title track 'Wanna Take You There' adds to the renaissance of playfully clever guitar songs to dance to as trailblazed by Wet Legs. Dives know how to party with their sound evoking images of road trips with friends and long days on the beach, "Oh let's head out, to a place that's pretty", sing Dives on 'Streets', "Where the lights, they never go out". Simultaneously Dives Riot Grrrl energy sees them sharing important messages and personal experiences within their danceable indie-pop tunes. Seven extraordinary artists were invited to put their hands on the work of austrian singersongwriter Landscape Izuma and to add their particluar flavour to a song of their choice from his album Kolorit. This LP+CD features 7 remixes of Landscape Izuma's 2007 album "Kolorit" by Alec Empire, Eric D. Clark, B.Fleischmann, TNT Jackson, Jason Forrest, Massallah and DJcoy. After their digital release by Alec Empire's label "Eat Your Heart Out" the tracks are now made available on a 500 piece collectors editon by austrian label Siluh Records. This release comes in an exclusive packaging by Berlin artist Stefan Guzy and his design agency "Zwölf Medien". The unorthodox cooperation origins in TV-Show "Durch die Nacht" bei French/German TV-station ARTE broadcasted in March 2008. It was then when ARTE introduced german Actor and founder of Siluh Records Robert Stadlober and musician Alec Empire in order to follow them spending a night out in Vienna.

News from Austrian noisepop-slackers KILLED BY 9V BATTERIES. Their upcoming third album "THE CRUX" is due in fall 2011. It really took us label-guys by surprise when those boys with their undeniable Sonic Youth background disclosed they will join forces with Vienna techno pioneer and producer of the latest Hercules and Love Affair record Patrick Pulsinger to tweak and refine their very own "Neuhass"postnothing - school. The results were more pop than the Batts ever had sounded. Whilst songs like "WORST OF TOTAL ANARCHY" with broad synth layers reveal an yet unheared twist in the bands artistic development the first single "IMPULSE CONTROL" still feeds all those nerds crowding the planet, hungry for the old days of Subpop and AmRep outfits, virtuously spiced up with a knack for contemporary bands like Male Bonding, No Age and Japandroids.

And once you reach the chorus of the second song Epitaph: "This Is Our Future, Going Up In Flames", you know exactly where you are: smack in the middle of happy nihilism, in the paradise of the planrejectors, in slacker kingdom. Evan Dando leans lazily against a tree, a fag hanging from mouth, a guitar in his hands and he whistles a song after Lou Barlow. During Mazunte Alex Chilton, Chris Bell and the rest of Big Star drop by for a quick beer, before they all sit down in the grass. Together with Superchunk, they sing an ode to the failed revolutionary Bill Ayers. Oh, and Teenage Fanclub, Steven Pastel, J. Mascis, the Throwing Muses, Juliana Hattfield and Guided By Voices are obviously joining in, too. Now, one could think that Gary are so absorbed in their slacker glory, that they don't even care about writing own songs. But that thought is quickly brushed away by the warm summerwind of Twisted Beds. And as soon as you reach Love Is Love and Hell Teema, you are sure that nothing here is copied! This is a band, completely at home with what they do. Sure, you can tell the influences and heroes in the songs. But it's got to be that way. Because this is POP! In capital letters. And Gary see everything, the whole world, just like Girls, Yuck or West Coast, through unique, new eyes. Through the eyes of teenagers. Teenagers who kiss for the first time at a Pavement show. And then cry over their broken heart to Sebadoh tapes. These songs are sung with the euphoria, the pain, the frustration and yes, the anger of youth. Into an unjust and overcomplicated world. What did Calvin Johnson of Beat Happening say: "Rock'n'roll is a teenage sport. Meant to be played by teenagers of all ages" And this Album Hey Turtle, Stop Running! reminds us again: Calvin is always right!

After a career as a comic book artist as well as a musician in the bands Zoppo and Avec-A, Yuri Landman began designing experimental musical instruments. Based on prepared guitar techniques, he built his first instrument in 2001 to solve the inaccuracy of instant preparations. In 2006 he got in contact with Liars. Developed over six years of prototyping, he fully realised the Moodswinger for them with commissions from numerous other musicians to follow. Yuri has custom built derivatives for such musical luminaries as Sonic Youth, Half Japanese, Enon, Lou Barlow, dEUS, The Dodos, Blood Red Shoes,Liars, HEALTH, Liam Finn, The Luyas, The Veils, Melt- Banana, Micachu & The Shapes, The Go!
