While the world is slowly crumbling, it is LIVE BY THE SWORD that rises up, bears arms, and marches into a new dark age with their brand new and special concept EP release THE GLORIOUS DEAD. Two years ago, the band surprised the scene with an unusual blend of streetrock and metal on their EXPLORING SOLDIERS RISE album, with influences ranging from oi! and hardrock to black metal. Now the band is ready to explore these chosen paths even further with the addition of Sander van Baalen from THE DEVIL’S BLOOD to their ranks, who immediately put his mark on the new songs with his characteristic drumming style. On THE GLORIOUS DEAD EP, the Dutch-American brotherhood surprises again by putting a mix of their most vulnerable and most heavy songs to date on one disc, from beautifully arranged acoustic tracks to hard pounding epic metal attacks. The songs are based around a central theme that reflects on the impact of war from different angles. That includes a heavy rocking version of the traditional and classic folk song “The Green Fields Of France”. The fact that vocalist Erick Barnes is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran with several tours under his belt adds even more weight to the songs and the concept. The previous LBTS releases already showcased Erick as a very strong vocalist, but on THE GLORIOUS DEAD EP he pushes things a little further with some impressive clean vocal lines. Wouter Davids’ (REBELLION RECORDS / COSMIC KEY CREATIONS) angular songwriting skills and guitar playing (ominously presented in all its stripped down and basic glory on the releases of his former band RAZORBLADE) have become more refined over the years, which result in more elaboration and variety in the newly recorded tracks.Besides laying down heavy and tight bass lines, Freek De Greef is a celebrated sound engineer and has provided the new songs with a heavy vintage, yet fresh blasting mix and production. The recordings were done in three different studios located on two continents.The majestic cover artwork captures an ancient burial site from 2000 BC at Regte Heide (NL) and was hand-painted by the grandmaster of dark arts, Johan Prenger, who is also responsible for the artwork on the previous LBTS release. THE GLORIOUS DEAD EP is being put out as a warm-up for the full album release. It will be released as a one-time limited pressing on 12” vinyl and CD, and it will not be re-released in this form or format ever again. All tracks were exclusively recorded for the EP release except for “Sacrifice”, which is taken from the upcoming full-length album CERNUNNOS (planned for March 2023). The lyrics for “Sacrifice” were written by Richard Walker of SOLSTICE fame, who happened to be a great supporter of the band since the very start. Last year Rebellion Records already reissued Backfire!’s classic “all Bets ARE Off” album on vinyl and you know what? We will continue to do so! Because aside some all-new Backfire! releases, we have some special, previously unreleased vinyl releases up our sleeves, including the band’s ‘98 “cover” EP “choose MY OWN Path”! Of course the title-track is a hard-scorching M-town original only available on this release, but the remaining four tracks pay homage to some of the band’s influences, including covers by Slayer, Cro-mags, Side BY Side and of course Warzone! As a bonus we included two bonus-tracks on the B side that first appeared on the second volume of the notorious “m-town Rebels II – Among THE Angels” compilation, for some more old school Backfire! action with the superb “Down For The Cause” and a Bold cover! “choose MY OWN Path” was originally released on CD by KINGfisher and is now available for the first time ever on vinyl, issued under exclusive license from Century Media Records.

10 years after the release of Know THE Code, which was the 3rd and final studio album of THE Corps, the band is back in the studio working on a brandnew album! To accompany the upcoming album and celebrate the rise of THE Corps, Rebellion Records is doing an ultra limited and deluxe vinyl repress of Know THE Code with courtesy of Contra Records (who released the album originally in 2012). Rebellion Records recently made the album available again on spotify and the songs got thousands and thousands of immediate plays right away, indicating the band is far from forgotten. The scene is ready and eager for a brandnew THE Corps album, but first let’s warm up a bit with this special and limited re-issue of Know THE Code!

After the anthemic albums “Something’s Gotta Give”, “Riot, Riot, Upstart” and “Dead Yuppies” you could (more or less) say that Agnostic Front returned with a blast through the album that followed; “another Voice”! Originally released by Nuclear Blast Records in 2004, the New York hardcore legends created furious, no holds barred, metallic-influenced mayhem, produced by Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta. Due to it’s producer, who also provided some guest vocals on ‘Another Voice’ (as did Karl Buechner of Earth Crisis and Scott Vogel of Terror), the album leaned a bit to the ‘metalcore’ side of things, but it’s still 100% Agnostic Front through and through!

Angry GOD is the first new material of the M-town Rebels since 2016 and the band’s first full-length in well over a decade! To say this release is very much anticipated is therefore an understatement. Luckily Backfire! lives up to the expectations and releases its strongest, most explosive record to date! Never before the Gods of European hardcore delivered an album on which they sounded so old school and typically Backfire! on one hand, but as refreshing and renewing as they do on the other hand. Going strong for nearly 3 decades already, but the band still manages to reinvent itself on Angry GOD and does so with anger and style! The band has announced this album will be their testimony and final release ever. Angry GOD is their most darkest and personal album to date and the crown on their 30 year career span.
