Free World is the first full-length issue from an ongoing collaboration between Behavior (Bedros Yeretzian, Evan Burrows, Justin Tenney, Robbie Cody) and Mayako XO (Sara Gernsbacher). It was tracked between 2019 and 2020 and assembled over the course of the last year in Los Angeles. The album reflects its creation under open-ended yet intent circumstances. What's recorded is a tangled pas de deux between discredited and demonstrative characters, singing through shifting voices over a living, melancholic music rendered legible by surveillance.

Regal Degal is a power trio consisting of Josh da Costa [Gemini] on guitars and vocals, Josiah Wolfson [Libra] on bass, and Jamen Whitelock [Virgo] on drums. Formed in Brooklyn in late 2009, the group recently relocated to Los Angeles. The group's sound pulls omnidirectionally from across the musical spectrum, drawing from post-punk, krautrock, 60's psychedelic/ freakbeat, 80's new wave and indie, German minimal house, and the music of Africa. The music could be described as hyper rhythm conscious, melodic, atmospheric, and kinetic, with one foot firmly in the past and an eye fixed towards the future. In the center resides Regal Degal, channeling and reinterpreting all individual and shared inspirations into a sound best referred to as deep rock.

SISSY SPACEK began in 1999 as a Blur / Grind duo consisting of John Wiese (SUNNO)), Bastard Noise) and Corydon Ronnau. Since then they have taken countless detours, pushing the extremes of sound in all possible directions on close to 50 releases. On their newest 7", "CONTRETEMPS" via PPM, they return to full on grind-core reflecting on material of their recent live outings and line up. Now as a 4 piece with Jesse Jackson (noise guitar), Charlie Mumma (drums), Corydon Ronnau (vocals), and John Wiese (bass) SISSY SPACEK tear through 10 songs of blasting noise. Limited to 500 copies. Cover art by Ace Farren Ford (Los Angeles Free Music Society).

On his 5th 7" for PPM Eric commits to a gentle onslaught of traditional sounding rhythms, ran through the busted copy machine of sound that defines his work. GET ALONG gets you going immediately with an infectious beat and a New Wave-ish, almost Nigerian Pop, scrambled, lost Prince demo vibe. While ZULU feeds the soft side of your soul quite nicely, tugging at your heart with a warped symphony and vocal line that shows his talent as a singer and composer. Two of EC's best songs to date, no doubt, do not miss this 45!

DUNES are a mysteriously ethereal and minimal trio from Los Angeles. Appropriating pop and experimental music into a familiar swirl, while retaining a fresh outlook and approach, DUNES inhabit a space of tweaking, twisting, imagining moments and emotions from the past, destined to end up as their future. Stephanie Chan, formerly of Austin Texas bands FINALLY PUNK and THE CARROTS plays guitar and sings in DUNES, she creates surreal and dreamy narratives with her lyrics and uniquely beautiful, powerful voice. Mark Greshowak plays barritone guitar and sometimes bass, he used to write songs and tour with seattle area band TALBOT TAGORA, now he and Stephanie weave their melodies back and forth, making lush tones for our eardums. Kate Hall, played drums in MIKA MIKO before holding down the rhythmic duties and also singing for DUNES. Having released a 12" EP on Mexican Summer, two 7" EP's, one on Los Angeles label Teenage Teerdrops, the other on San Diego's Art Fag and a tape on Ooga Booga DUNES are primed to release a full length to the world. Together, here is a blend of three people experimenting and work...

Limited to 1000 records. Music by No Age. Designed by Brian Roettinger. Special packaging with silk screened plastic sleeves."Collage Culture: Examining the 21st Century's Identity Crisis" is a new work of nonfiction written by Aaron Rose, Mandy Kahn and designed by Brian Roettinger. This companion recording combines audio excerpts from the book's text with an original musical score by NO AGE, examining these questions and allowing the listener space to think. This is a limited record with beautiful and enticing sounds split in two separate channels for your listening pleasure.Brilliantly designed by Brian Roettinger who was nominated for a Grammy for his work on NO AGE's "Nouns" In the essay called "The Death of Subculture," Aaron Rose (Alleged Gallery, director of Beautiful Losers and co-curator of MoCA's record-smashing exhibit Art in the Streets) makes an impassioned call to arms, urging the next generation of artists to end the collage era by adopting a philosophy of creative innovation. And in her essay "Living in the Mess," Mandy Kahn (columnist, Foam magazine) considers whether the collage of references that surrounds us might negatively a_ect the way we feel. Combined with the musical elements of NO AGE, who exhibit that they are in the prime of ambient excursions and findings, this record is not something to miss.

Quail Lungs is a mysterious song writing project from cardinal human, and Portland Oregon resident Travis Bonilla; and others? PPM is putting this 7" out because it sounds like something we found... 'cause we did. We've never even seen this guy play live, but the songs are top quality and just dark enough to ask questions. Do Quail Lungs like Syd Barret and large amountsof coffee? Do they like The Kinks enough to try them with Morphine? How come we can't stop listening to the A side "Dum Dadadum" and the B side "You Can't Believe in Anything, You Can't Believe in Nothing"? Expect more music and crafting, but maybe no more answers? Quail Lungs for 2010 is a good look, get into it. Limited to 500 Copies.

PPM number twenty-five comes to the world as a special present wrapped in sweet textures, grooves and experimentalmake up. A 12" E.P. containing two bands playing for each other whose mental brain paths collide in perfect symmetry, a nice nugget of pleasing sounds and artwork by three individualswho know how to kill it. High Places are from New York, Rob and Mary have been making music for years now and it has brought them allover the world. HP's track on the split "Late Bloomer" is a long and beautiful piece of composition, with a vocal hook that stays in your head for weeks. The way they write songs is very mysterious, always crashing and rhythmic collisions, whispers, bangs, clangs, sea shores and melody seep into your body. Definitely rides the line of club banger or bedroom jammer, it works perfect either way. Soft Circle is Hisham Bharoocha's solo effort, formerly of Black Dice, Pixeltan and Lightning Bolt. SC's previous endeavors were more akin to his role in "Beaches and Canyon's" era Black Dice; eastern, drone, blissful. The two tracks on the split "Don't Just Stand There" and "Light Bright" are way more geared...

Limited edition of 500! New York City gives us a gift all wrapped up and delivered in 4-track filth called SILK FLOWERS. Featuring members of some of the great weirdo bands of the past like SOILED MATTRESS AND THE SPRINGS and EMERGENCY, this new musical Enterprise sounds nothing like either. Somewhere between KRAFTWERK, "cough/cool" era MISFITS, and JOY DIVISIONthrough a broken boom box while sweeping floors at the art museum, you will find this great and deliberately confusing 7" single. An Amalgam of samples, keyboards, drum machine, live drums, pedals and tape hiss finds our present is unveiled and it is as skuzzy and bright as it gets in New York, look out and be warned: Full length expected in 2009 on PPM.
