Thanatophobia isn’t just a big word, it’s the first Marc With a C album of (mostly) original material for what’s being dubbed “Phase II”; After 21 years of portraying a combustible persona to fit the bizarre, darkly humorous yet emotionally devastating, minutiae-obsessed, lo-fi DIY records that Marc Sirdoreus created to find a way to bring them to the stage, Marc returns for “Phase II” dropping the stage act, keeping the stage name, and being himself on record for the first time.

Thanatophobia sees Marc Sirdoreus, (a genderfluid person compared with the highly male-presenting Marc With a C Phase I persona, and Marc is fine with “he” for pronouns), confronting most of his deepest fears and anxieties head first. For the production, Marc limited himself to only the instruments that he would have owned in December of 1999 if a record were expected within six months, often beginning with melodic ideas from songs that an early producer had forced Marc to remove from the sessions of the earliest Phase I albums. Expect sonic experiments, the prerequisite character studies, brutal truths about the human condition, and plenty of moments when you aren’t sure if you’re supposed to laugh, cry, or both.

The vinyl, CD and digital download will come with a bonus “enhanced” stereo mix to play in sync with Thanatophobia known as Phobophobia, to give a highly immersive view into this sound-world. Catherine Blackard created a potentially groundbreaking piece of visual art for each format that will reveal wholly different cover art depending on the color of the light bulb you have near your player.

Perhaps most surprising of all is Marc’s decision to leave his DIY days in the past, partnering with Needlejuice Records, also reaching an agreement with the label to reissue as much of the ’99-‘21 Phase I Marc With a C catalog on every format possible.

The lesser known sequel (prequel? ...equal?) to The Rocky Horror Picture Show gets the Marc With a C treatment on Needlejuice Records in 2021. Shock Treatment, the 1981 Richard O'Brien musical just may have been a stroke of ahead-of-its-time genius, satirizing reality television and celebrity culture to the point that the ridiculousness of the events in the film, well... they just might not be that far off these days.

Marc With a C, the Orlando-based singer-songwriter and lo-fi recording extraordinaire, created these covers of songs from Shock Treatment early in his career, on a broken 4-track recorder, with no intention of releasing them. In Marc's words, "I didn't know what I was doing. It got pretty weird and experimental." More than a decade later, Marc decided to unleash these recordings and to his shock-- these covers took a life of their own. Fans of Richard O'Brien's work enjoyed them to the point that Marc found his way onto the official 2017 Shock Treatment blu ray release.

To top it off, the new Needlejuice reissue of Shock Treatment (Interpretations) comes with an all-new bonus track: a full-band version of "Bitchin' in the Kitchen" recorded in 2017, as well as access to Marc's commentary track to the film.

Blending 8-bit aesthetics with soul-baring queer bedroom indie, New Jersey-based synthpop project The Scary Jokes is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Liz Lehman. Their signature style of gentle, upbeat psychedelia contrasted with pointed, introspective lyrics earned 2016’s April Fools considerable buzz in the internet underground.

On their 2019 followup, Burn Pygmalion!!! A Better Guide to Romance, Lehman weaves a concept album around insecurity and romantic alienation, telling the story of a journalist ruminating on her relationship as she housesits for her movie-star girlfriend. The album expanded the group’s sound, complimenting Lehman’s electronic production with guitarwork by new band member Juniper Abernathy and a guest performance by Louie Zong. Featuring the song “Community Gardens,” Burn Pygmalion cemented The Scary Jokes as one of the most exciting new artists of the 2010s.

Needlejuice Records is proud to bring Burn Pygmalion to physical formats. In addition to CD and cassette, the album will be available on colored vinyl in two configurations: a green\pink half-and-half and a fiery-red galaxy. The album has been remastered for physical media by Angel Marcloid.

An oddball cult classic returns! The 2008 "Linda Lovelace For President" went technically awry, setting off a chain of events that made Marc Sirdoreus distance himself from the project, only eventually recognizing how much it meant to the listeners who held it in high esteem a decade later. Remastered by Marc in 2022, with a track that was only discovered recently opening - "Thank The Stars"

When Marc With a C began the first studio session - having blocked out five days in which to complete the album, planning to make it the first fully digitally-recorded Mwac record? All technology chose to revolt, and Marc had to quickly come up with a gonzo method to make the album: record the basic tracks on 4-track until generational loss came from too many bounces... and then sing the vocals live in one take While the album was transferred in real time to the computer. This resulted in "It's All Gonna Be Alright" having lyrics that Marc didn't initially intend to use, as the computer had destroyed the demo, and the documents with the new words. "Thank The Stars" was hastily written out of lyrics that had been around for many years to be the new opening cut, but as it didn't need overdubbed vocals?

Well... Marc never had to rewind that far in the tape, forgot to transfer it, only discovering the song roughly two years prior to this writing. How forgotten was the song? Most of the verses ended up in a track known as "Shinebox" on the 2021 "low fidelity (or...)" album, with Marc having no memory of this initial track. Now, you have the option to open the record with the song that always began it, or the one that would've replaced "It's All Gonna Be Alright". The interactivity never stops, and that doesn't even touch on how the album got this name!

A multi-platinum monster when it was first released, a mix-up at the manufacturer caused the records to be pressed using an unstable experimental polymer that rendered them all into a volatile, toxic goo within months. Before the single could be repressed, the plates were destroyed for a tax write-off, and it is said that Paul McCartney burned the master tapes himself. We can't go back in time to bring you the Beatles' original, but we can give you the next-best thing: Joe Siris' wonderful recreation of the lost masterpiece.
