Norwegian underground legends Purified in Blood dropped some long-awaited new music online in 2022 with their gut wrenching and explosive tracks Krater and Myrå. Purified in Blood’s aggressive and unique take on metal has ripped through the scene since 2003, influencing several of contemporary metal and punk acts. Their raw and uncompromising sound, blending furious guitar riffs with driving rhythms and powerful and menacing vocals, paired with their assailing and dominant live shows, put them in class of their own. The result is fierce extreme metal, mixing the best of thrash, hard metal and death metal into their own unique sound. A long planned reissue project, it's nice to have this one finally happen after only 15 years since we started talking about it! The G-anx / Filthy Christians split 7" was pretty influential to a fledgling Dropdead back in 1991/1992. Two Swedish hardcore/punk bands each approaching fast crazy HC with completely different approaches. We listened to this record a ton, and maybe the influences can't be heard in the DD sound, but it's been there from the start. We announced our cooperation with Grá over one year ago. Now, the time has finally come to shed some light over the Swedish black metal band’s latest activity, and there is no better way than a good, old 7’’. Here comes Flame Of Hephaestus. We asked the band to comment on the new single, which will serve as an anticipation for their incoming fourth studio album, following the acclaimed Väsen (2018). Guitarist and singer Heljarmadr (Dark Funeral) expressed his thoughts: “Flame Of Hephaestus” is the first single from our new album Lycaon. We feel that it is a good representative for the album and it carries an intensity that kinda connects it with our last album Väsen. It serves as a natural bridge, if you will.

Skeletal Earth was one of those bands that stuck out. Being influenced by both death and thrash metal as well as the more crossover style where hardcore punk meets metal they came up with an original sounding couple of demos and albums. Their debut Eulogy for a Dying Fetus was recorded at Tampa, Florida based Morrisound Studios ( Death, Cynic, Agent Steel) and produced by Scott Burns (Cannibal Corpse, Atheist, Deicide). In April 1993 Skeletal Earth went back to the famous Morrisound Studios in Tampa to record 5 new tracks to be released as the ‘Dreighphuck’ 7" vinyl EP. Drummer Doug Sylvia also played with Fear of God (featuring Detenete's Dawn Crosby R.I.P.)

Raw Power was formed in 1981 by two brothers from Poviglio, Italy, Mauro on vocals and Giuseppe on guitars. Land of the Rising Spaghetti commemorates their 40th Anniversary release and their pre-Covid 19 tour of Japan with the Ananas opening. The line-up for Raw Power's side of the record includes Mauro Codeluppi on vocals, Marco Massarenti on bass, Paolo on guitars, Berta on drums and Giuseppe in spirit. Sadly, Giuseppe left the planet on October 6th, 2002 but his guitar can still be heard screaming from the gutters. He was with Raw Power for slightly over a quarter of a century and is the driving force between Mauro's desire to keep the band functioning until he too passes on. Executive producer, David Ulysses Portnow first saw Raw Power in 1986 at the Gorilla Gardens all-ages club where he worked until its closure. "Funny thing about that night, the opening band was Guns & Roses," he recalls. In 1987, Raw Power returned to the US and headlined a massive US and Canadian tour with the Dayglo Abortions and Dehumanizers in tow. Raw Power have also performed with the Ramones, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, Adolescents, DOA, Agnostic Front, Suicidal Tendencies, Motorhead and a list of heavy hitters that goes on and on, including Japan's female fronted Ananas. PIG Records was searching for more female representation in punk and found it with the Ananas. PIG Records wants to emphasize the importance of women in rock. Mauro gave his full support to the concept and describes front lady Karina Friday as the modern-day version of Mr. Chi Pig from Snfu, may his soul rest in peace as well. The Ananas are from Kyoto, Japan and Karina is supported by Junichi on guitars, Awaji on bass and Kazu on drums.

Kitchen is the first aural glimpse into the Vespertine project, a collaborative concept wherein the entirety of Chef Jordan Kahn’s new Culver City restaurant has been custom-scored by Los Angeles’ own This Will Destroy YOU. One of seven pieces written for the building itself (and even the space around it), Kitchen is the music that diners first hear as they are greeted by Chef Kahn before dinner service begins for the evening. In composing the music for this interaction, This Will Destroy YOU’s Chris King and Jeremy Galindo sought to convey a warm, hospitable – if not reassuring – tone for listeners that may (or may not) be present elsewhere as they discover and explore the spaces in and around Vespertine’s looming architectural monolith for the remainder of their stay.

They've established themselves as major players in the Mexican, DIY Punk Scene booking tours, driving bands and playing a perfected '90s style Swedish/UK, D-Beat/Crust. This new, 4 Track EP finds them laying into their particular blend of the dark and dismal and is their first release since their 2020 Demo and in their most focused and punishing form. The winded exasperations call back to the vocal stylings of classics like Doom and the musical D-Beat/Crust attack reminiscent of juggernauts like Disgust and Napalm Raid are clear and not unfounded comparisons.
