Ga-20 is back with a new 45 featuring an eclectic mix of covers. "As much as we love traditional blues music, we also have a soft spot for traditional country and songs that tell a story. These are 2 great storytelling songs," says Matt Stubbs, guitarist in the band. With the ambition to bridge the gap between blues and country in their own, distinctive way, Ga-20 is proud to present their swampy and bluesy take on Dolly Parton's 'Jolene', as well as a western-inspired and mysterious cover of 'Still as The Night'.

It's hardly necessary to say at this point, but Otis Rush holds a very special place for modern blues fans. The period when he recorded for Chicago's Cobra Records from 1956 to 1958 can be seen as the birth of a new era of urban blues following B.B. King. From these timeless blues treasures, the first single from his Cobra Records era and Rush's signature song, "I Can't Quit You Baby," is being reissued on a 7-inch vinyl. The A-side features the original version, where Willie Dixon's craftsmanship boldly cuts the intro, starting with Rush's powerful roar for a striking impact. The B-side includes an alternate take, featured on the British Blue Horizon compilation This One’s A Good ‘Un, which gained attention when the Rolling Stones covered it in 2016. This will be a special record that allows listeners to savor the essence of Otis Rush and the blues.

Celebrating the 75th anniversary of three top 10 R&B singles - “Hobo Blues”, “Hoogie Boogie” and “Crawlin’ King Snake.” This 4-track EP includes the bonus track, “Hastings Street Boogie,” which is also celebrating its 75th anniversary.

It was sixty years ago, in June 1964, when John Lee Hooker entered the British singles charts for the first time with “Dimples,” peaking at #23. The track had been cut for the Vee-Jay label in America some eight years prior in Chicago. “Boom Boom,” issued in the UK in 1963, had already caught the ears and feet of the nascent mod movement. Both songs became live staples on the British blues scene, with The Animals covering both on their debut UK LP issued later in 1964.

But in 1952, way before the sharp-suited mods were attracted to John Lee Hooker’s equally well-cut look and infectious music, the British Vogue label had issued “Hoogie Boogie,” recorded in 1949, on a 78rpm disc. Blues music was for the aficionado back then, and the four tracks on this EP hark back to those earliest recordings by John Lee Hooker. “Hobo Blues,” “Hoogie Boogie,” and “Crawlin’ King Snake” all went Top 10 in the US R&B chart in 1949.

This is unadorned John Lee Hooker, getting to the heart of his blues and boogie, just guitar, vocal, and tapping foot, 15 years before his music caught the ears of a wider and enthusiastic British audience. Decades may have passed, but the music remains fresh and vital.

This EP is housed in a beautiful period-era sleeve drawn and designed by Niall McCormack.

Mastered from an original 78 copy and not from the over EQ'd 'complete' CD, this is probably the second best way to hear the master strutting his stuff on one of his feature releases. Killer two sides from this legendary blues man. This 45 is pressed with a solid center and original looking 78 labels. Excellent!

The eagerly awaited follow-up to their chart-topping album Sonic Mojo album is here. After 31 weeks in the Top 10 Billboard Blues Charts, Foghat wrote & recorded a brand-new tribute track, "On Tonsils & Sneakers," dedicated to original lead singer and guitarist Lonesome Dave Peverett, who passed away in 2000. The song's affectionate title is inspired by Peverett's signature stage introduction, "... and On Tonsils and Sneakers, I'm Lonesome Dave," and pays homage to the iconic shiny silver or gold sneakers he wore on stage. The tracks are being released on 7" 45 RPM Translucent Red Vinyl. The B-side is "Black Days & Blue Nights" from Sonic Mojo, also written by Foghat's current lineup: founding drummer Roger Earl, lead singer/guitarist Scott Holt, slide guitarist/engineer/co-producer Bryan Bassett & bassist/vocalist Rodney O'Quinn. The track pays tribute to the bands original slide guitarist, Roc Price, who passed away in 2005. Foghat chose to release the 7" 45 RPM vinyl featuring both songs as a heartfelt tribute to honor their two original members. Founding member Roger Earl continues to keep the music alive, always paying respect to the roots of Foghat and acknowledging the lasting contributions of Dave and Rod to the band's enduring legacy.

When internally the plan came up to release a bunch of vinyl singles for Unrock’s 30th anniversary as an entity, Richard just like his brother Alan, the other keyholder of Sun City Girls legacy was among the first to take a deep look into his archives. Out came two shining pearls from different periods of his long career. Taqasim For Omar (acoustic) was recorded in Seattle in 2008. It was recorded before the Sir changed his mind and recorded the track with an all electric band again for his Freak of Araby LP.

Magrebh Blues was recorded in Tangier, 2018 when Bishop recorded Tangier Sessions in Morocco. The track came out too bluesy for what Richard wanted to show with the album, but it is the only track he played on the mysterious guitar which beautifully sounds like a magrebhinian blues. Cleo Page who lived in California since 14 years-old has been crossing Blues, Rhythm & Blues and protoRock'n'Roll in a personal way. He will run his own labels in the heart of Watts just after the 1965 riots. Those tragic events deeply influenced his laid-back groovy sounds, powerful guitar playing, organ-driven garage Blues with strong political and social messages. Back in 2015, P-vine pressed a special edition of the Fire/Enjoy singles by Elmore James as a series of 7” discs that was quickly buried by the quick turnover of new releases and were not presented to our overseas clients. As part of a recent drive to clean up the stock-room, our dusters managed to work their magic and uncover a number of copies of this release previously unknown to the overseas marketing division. Towards the end of a career cut tragically short, Elmore James recorded a string of singles between 1959 and 1963 with renowned producer Bobby Robinson under his Fire and Enjoy record labels that would eventually lend their name to this collection. Together they would capture James’s iconic take on the blues with his effortless intersections of slide guitar complementing the marching calls from his pained Blues vocals. This feast for the eyes box-set includes nine 7” discs and a Fire Records tote bag sized perfectly for carrying your favourite 7” record and not much else. A great addition for collectors of rare blues and DJs.

Samuel John "Lightnin'" Hopkins left some of the greatest recordings in the history of blues with the American label Herald Records in the 50'~60's. Among others, "Hopkins' Sky Hop / Lonesome In Your Home" ep (1954) is sometimes claimed to be the best work. Except for the unofficial release which had a different B-side, it will be reissued for the first time based on the specification of original edition!

In 2024, in celebration of their 30th anniversary, the band decided to re-record two beloved tracks, “Bebek” and “Yusuf Yusuf”, adapting them to modern styles and sound quality. THE CHATHAM SINGERS first album came out in late 2005, the critically acclaimed 'Heavens Journey' was a mixture of Blues and Poetry, since that album they have played select shows and festivals and now three years later they have gone back into the studio to record the follow up, as yet untitled album. This very limited 7" features two tracks from the new album (due out sometime in 2009) which both feature Julie on vocals, the a-side is a Billy Childish original and the b-side is a very dark cover of an old Hank Williams song.
